 <\/p>\n

I am very pleased to inform you our friend Sylvie JOSEPH-JULIEN has been named Executive Artistic Director MDFDE\/Seattle.<\/p>\n

In this capacity, Sylvie will be our permanent artistic liaison between the schools, museums and cultural associations of “Emerald City,” <\/em><\/strong>the largest city in the State of Washington and <\/em><\/em>the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, home to Microsoft, Starbucks, Amazon and Boeing, just to name four of the world’s biggest American companies headquartered in Seattle.<\/p>\n

Sylvie JOSEPH-JULIEN, a French storyteller and children’s author, whose mother was born in Valencia, Spain, and father is French-Italian (her paternal grandmother was from Florence, Italy), owns and operates the French Atelier d\u2019Ich\u00e8re,\u00a0the educational workshop business she created in 2008; and Atelier d’Ichere USA, which has been active in the Seattle area since 2012. It was named after the chalet her family built at the Ichere Pass in the Atlantic Pyrenees Mountains (674 m) in the town of Lourdios-Ich\u00e8re (Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es-Atlantiques), an inspirational place where Sylvie wrote her very first stories and Legends.<\/p>\n

Atelier d’Ichere conducts creative and educational activities all based around “Storytelling” in the oral history tradition, which is deeply engrained in European culture. It includes musical story shows, story tours, French classes, museum workshops and camps held in schools, museums, French chateaux, and historical landmarks such as the Louvre and the Tour Eiffel.<\/p>\n

Sylvie JOSEPH-JULIEN holds a Graduate degree in Mathematics applied to Social Sciences from PARIS X University; a Business School degree from l\u2019\u00c9cole Sup\u00e9rieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliqu\u00e9es (ESLSCA); a Post-Graduate Degree in Master in European humanity from the University of la Sorbonne – PARIS; and a Master\u2019s Degree in Business Strategy and Human Resources from PARIS XII University.<\/p>\n

In France, Sylvie worked as Director of the Espace Enfants Cr\u00e9teil, Galerie des Artistes en Herbe (1994-2011); in HR Consulting and Training (2005\/2011); and as Human Resources Manager (1994\/2006) for Pinault-Printemps-Redoute, Galeries Lafayette, Carrefour.<\/p>\n

Married and mother of three, Sylvie, who speaks French, English and Spanish fluently, has taught French at the EFG Seattle (till June 2015) and at the French Bilingual Association (FBA) of Bellevue (2013). Today she teaches at the Bellevue Arts Museum. She is also a Volunteer at the Louvre Museum in the \u201cVivre ensemble\u201d program<\/strong>; at the Spiritridge Elementary School, Tillicum Middle School and VIBES in Bellevue School District WA (training program).<\/p>\n

La visite du Bellevue Art Museum est l\u2019occasion de rencontrer une conteuse d\u2019histoires et de se laisser surprendre par l\u2019incroyable collection de broches de Madeleine Albright, ex-chef de la diplomatie am\u00e9ricaine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

L\u2019exposition \u00ab Read my pins \u00bb, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e au Bellevue Art Museum<\/a> jusqu\u2019au 7 juin, a tout pour surprendre.\u00a0 En v\u00e9ritable conteuse, Sylvie Joseph-Julien d\u00e9voile les \u00e9motions de Madeleine Albright allant d\u2019une simple d\u00e9claration \u00e0 un engagement absolu.<\/strong> Chaque broche est un voyage d\u2019\u00e9motion diplomatique ou une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence amicale.<\/p>\n

Marie Jana, de son \u201cpremier nom\u201d, est n\u00e9e le 15 mai 1937 \u00e0 Prague en Tch\u00e9coslovaquie. Pour \u00e9chapper \u00e0 la pers\u00e9cution nazie, ses parents juifs se convertissent au catholicisme et change son pr\u00e9nom pour celui de Madeleine qui fait plus fran\u00e7ais, selon eux. La famille s\u2019exile en 1948 aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Elle devient citoyenne am\u00e9ricaine en 1957 et d\u00e9croche un dipl\u00f4me en sciences politiques, apprend le russe et parle couramment l\u2019anglais, le fran\u00e7ais, le tch\u00e8que et le serbo-croate. Madeleine \u00e9pouse en 1959 Joseph Albright, un journaliste. Le couple aura trois filles dont des jumelles et finira par divorcer en 1982. En 1993; les d\u00e9mocrates reviennent au pouvoir et Madeleine Albright entre dans l\u2019administration Clinton o\u00f9 elle est nomm\u00e9e secr\u00e9taire d\u2019\u00c9tat (ministre des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res) de 1997 \u00e0 2001, elle est la premi\u00e8re femme \u00e0 occuper ce poste.<\/p>\n

Bien plus qu\u2019un bijou<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dans cette exposition, il n\u2019est pas question de pi\u00e8ces uniques, ni d\u2019objets pr\u00e9cieux. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un bijou d\u00e9nich\u00e9 par une \u00e9quipe dont l\u2019unique caract\u00e9ristique est le message que Madeleine Albright d\u00e9livre au gr\u00e9 de ses rencontres ou n\u00e9gociations diplomatiques. Parfois par l\u2019humour, elle r\u00e9pond, incite, provoque l\u2019interrogation.<\/p>\n

Le serpent : Largement critiqu\u00e9 \u00e0 la suite de la guerre du Golfe, pour avoir refus\u00e9 de collaborer avec l\u2019ONU, Saddam Hussein et un po\u00e8te irakien avaient trait\u00e9 Madeleine Albright de \u00ab serpent \u00bb. Lors d\u2019une r\u00e9union avec les repr\u00e9sentants irakiens, elle porta sur elle une broche en or en forme de serpent.<\/p>\n

Le drapeau am\u00e9ricain : En 2000, quand elle rencontre Kim Jong-il, il n\u2019est pas question de porter le pins \u00e0 l\u2019effigie du p\u00e8re dirigeant comme l\u2019exige le protocole et contre lequel Madeleine Albright se dresse et pour afficher la fiert\u00e9 des valeurs d\u00e9mocratiques, elle \u00e9pingle le drapeau am\u00e9ricains dont la taille et la brillance ne peuvent passer inaper\u00e7ues.<\/p>\n

Cette passionnante s\u00e9rie de messages expose ses r\u00e9flexions, ses rencontres, ses id\u00e9es. Un moyen de se souvenir et d\u2019\u00e9voquer le pass\u00e9 ou des \u00e9v\u00e8nement imperceptibles. C\u2019est un rendez-vous avec l\u2019histoire \u00e0 ne pas manquer.<\/p>\n
